I first bought the pan without the lid to primary make traditional Japanese rolled omelet. Then I realized that this pan can be used to cook so many more things - not just eggs and toast. Add to that seafood, meat, gyoza, vegetables and more. The lid increases the possibilities for using this small pan. The quality of the Vermicular pans and lids is wonderful.
