Hi Mary,
Thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear you’re experiencing some issues with your ingredients sticking.
While our enameled cast iron cookware isn’t advertised as nonstick, food should release more easily when the pan is properly preheated. Below are a few steps that help create a nonstick environment:
Preheating Steps
- Preheat over medium‑high heat for about 90 seconds.
- Add oil and swirl to coat the pan evenly.
- Allow smoke to rise from the entire surface of the pan — this is key, as proper preheating is achieved only once smoke appears across the whole surface.
- Adjust the heat and begin cooking.
Even with correct preheating, residue buildup can still cause sticking. For stains or stubborn residue, we recommend using Bar Keeper’s Friend Soft Cleanser (liquid) and scrubbing with balled‑up plastic wrap or a soft sponge. Plastic wrap tends to work best because it doesn’t absorb the cleanser.
